About NOS: NOAA Climate Goal

To understand climate variability and change to enhance society’s ability to plan and respond.

While the National Ocean Service (NOS) is a secondary (not primary) contributor to the NOAA Climate Program, NOS does assist resource managers in assessing the impacts of climate variability and change. For example, NOS research and observations provide measurements and analyses to monitor sea-level rise, to understand sea-level rise impacts on ecosystems, and to mitigate negative effects of sea-level rise.
