NOS's Role in Executing NOAA Programs and Mission GoalsThe NOAA Strategic Plan identifies four mission goals and a mission support goal around which all NOAA work is planned, organized, and executed by NOAA programs. NOS has a role in nine different NOAA programs, which integrate the activities of the five NOAA line offices. This page summarizes how NOS executes NOAA’s programs to meet the mission goals and outcomes, as outlined in the NOS Strategic Plan. As a NOAA line office, NOS works closely with the other NOAA line offices, which include the National Weather Service, the Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research, National Marine Fisheries Service, National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service, and NOAA Marine and Aviation Operations. By working with these partners through NOAA programs, NOS helps to achieve the following NOAA mission goals and mission support goal:
